Well, well, well. It’s been one year since my 27 post, so it was only fitting to follow it up with 28. Entering into the last odd-numbered (and overall final) year of my 20s, I am beginning to wake up from the haze of routine and comfortability that I have put myself into over the last few years. Now, more than ever, I am not fearing time, but rather taking it back. 29 is going to be my best year yet. I just know it.

Before every birthday, my continued choice of therapy to alleviate the looming anguish over my goodbyes to another year is to pen a letter from my previous year’s self to the one that is approaching. This therapeutic session is my lifeline to composure in sanity that distracts from any intrusive thoughts of pointless scenarios that could lead to a mental breakdown… but I digress. As I get older, I don’t always necessarily feel like I’m getting wiser, but this adage usually rings true for me when I sit down to properly allocate words to my prominent emotions. In this case, on the eve of my final even-numbered year of my 20s (my 28th birthday), my 27-year-old self has some choice words of expression to spew before it dissipates into the past and is thrown into the pile of experienced years that brought about more life lessons. Much thanks and love for you, 27! <3

24 HOURS IN: Denver, CO // 20 February 2021

This is part of my “Fresh Eyes: An Impression in 24 Hours” that I created in 2021 to document my time of travel that increased exponentially after it dissipated in 2020 at the start of the Pandemic. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to at least one different place a month, and although I may have only had a weekend to delve into the experience, I found that all I needed to grasp ahold of a formulated opinion was a day’s time. I hope reading my first-hand thoughts could help someone strive after their own desire to be there themselves. Enjoy!
